Darul Uloom Al Arabiyyah Al Islamiyyah Lilbanat is a dedicated Islamic seminary for girls located in Mumbra, Thane, Maharashtra. Founded on 28th July 1995, this institution was the heartfelt vision of Haji Muhammad Iqbal Motorwala and his steadfast wife, Mrs. Aasiya Iqbal Motorwala. With deep concern for the lack of structured Islamic education available for girls in the community, they decided to open the doors of their own home to create a space where young girls could begin their journey of sacred knowledge.

The madrasah began with just 36 students and 2 teachers, offering two initial classes—Ibtedai Awwal (primary level) and Aalimiyat Awwal (first year of the scholar course). Despite limited resources and space, the founders’ unwavering commitment and trust in Allah (SWT) laid the foundation for something extraordinary. Their home became more than a dwelling—it became a place of learning, discipline, and spiritual growth.

As the number of students steadily grew, the need for a dedicated facility became clear. In 1997, the madrasah acquired a modest 1000 square feet of space, allowing the institution to move out of the founders’ home and into its own premises. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter. The premises have since expanded and now span over 5000 square feet, accommodating more students, classes, and activities. The institution's first major milestone was reached in the year 2000, when the first batch of students graduated from the Aalimiyat course. That graduating class consisted of just three students, but it symbolized a major accomplishment—the beginning of a legacy of female Islamic scholarship in Mumbra.

Our Mission and Vision

Mission
Vision

Our vision is to raise a generation of Muslim women who are rooted in ilm (knowledge), taqwa (piety), and akhlaaq (good character)—equipped with the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, and able to navigate the challenges of the modern world with faith and understanding. We believe that when a girl is educated in deen, she becomes the foundation of an entire generation, and this belief has guided us from the very first day.

Our Growth and Legacy

From its humble beginnings in a small home classroom to its current multi-thousand-square-foot campus, Darul Uloom Al Arabiyyah Al Islamiyyah Lilbanat has come a long way. What started with just two teachers and thirty-six girls has blossomed into a full-fledged madrasah known for its sincerity, discipline, and commitment to excellence in Islamic education for girls.

The success of our first Aalimiyat batch in 2000 was only the beginning. Since then, we have had the honor of preparing and graduating many more students who have gone on to teach, lead, and serve in various capacities, both within India and beyond. Every graduating student carries with her not only the knowledge of the deen, but also the values, love, and barakah that the madrasah was built upon.

Founders’ Legacy

The story of Darul Uloom Al Arabiyyah Al Islamiyyah Lilbanat is incomplete without honoring the vision, sacrifice, and relentless effort of its founders. Haji Muhammad Iqbal Motorwala, with his foresight and devotion to the deen, and Mrs. Aasiya Iqbal Motorwala, with her determination, compassion, and hands-on involvement, have together created more than an institution, they have created a legacy of female empowerment through Islamic education. Their trust in Allah and their refusal to give up in the face of challenges continue to inspire every teacher, student, and parent connected with the madrasah today.
